Book Review:The Secret Life of John Paul II

Have you joined the Church during the reign of Pope Benedict XVI and wonder what all the fuss is about John Paul II?

Maybe you are a follower of the Fatima message and wonder if there is more to the relationship between John Paul II and Fatima...

Possibly you just want to know more about Blessed John Paul II...

Well, I fall into all of the categories mentioned above. I always wondered who John Paul II was and why he is so popular among Catholics. I am also a fan of the Fatima message and was interested to hear more insight into it. Lastly, I just wanted to know more about John Paul II.

So, I read a copy of The Secret Life of John Paul II by Lino Zani. At first I was a little lost because the author is an avid mountain climber and skier and I am neither. The terminology took some getting used to. Once I got into the book, I could not stop reading it. The author tells some of his own life story and how he met the pope. He then goes on to describe their relationship and some of the Holy ways that John Paul II exhibited. Finally, he tied the book together with the information he presents to the reader about the third secret of Fatima and how it connected to his relationship with JPII.

As I mentioned, this book took a minute for me to get used to reading with all of the "mountaineer" terminology but I soon found myself glued to the pages of this book, unable to pull myself away. When I got to the Fatima part, I was blown away. The information presented is by no means a biographical look at the life and times of John Paul II but it is most definitely a memoir of the special relationship between the pope and his "apostle of the mountains". I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

I received The Secret Life of John Paul II free of charge from St. Benedict Press in exchange for my honest review.

God Bless,
Alicia
