Book Review: Tales of the Not Forgotten and Leader's Guide

"Tales of the Not Forgotten", written by Beth Guckenberger is a book containing four stories of courage and trust in God's infinite wisdom. The book chronicles how four children's lives were changed because of the "yes" of another person (or people). The topics covered are hunger, thirst, and sexual discrimination abandonment.

"Tales of the Not Forgotten" was a true joy to read. I was mesmerized by the stories and the way that God provided for the people in the stories. Knowing that all of the stories were true made my heart go out to the people but also reminded me that God, indeed, is the storyweaver and we never know how He is working "behind the scenes". I not only plan to pass this book on to my son but also plan to talk to the Director of Religious Education at my church about adding this to my fourth and fifth grade curriculum.

When I received the package in the mail, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the leader's guide CD-Rom was also included for review. The leader's guide is packed with resources to go along with the book. It has six sessions worth of shortened versions of the stories, take-home resources, and lesson plans. Each item on the Leader's Guide CD-Rom is fully customizable.

I recommend this book and study guide to Homeschoolers, Religious Education/Sunday School Teachers, and even Vacation Bible Schools could benefit from the information included. The book says appropriate for ages 8-12 but I would say it is most appropriate for ages 10-adult. The price is very reasonable and you, as well as your students, will be moved by the stories presented!

I received this book and the accompanying Leader's Guide CD-Rom free of charge from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks for stopping by,
Alicia
