Book Review: With Every Letter

"With Every Letter" by Sarah Sundin is a heartwarming story set in World War II about a lady and man who are both trying to escape their true selves because they think that they are unlovable. Lt. Mellie Blake, an army nurse, reluctantly agrees to begin writing anonymously to another officer who is out in combat. Meanwhile, Lt. Tom McGilliver receives the letter that was not even intended for him. A friendship develops and eventually the couple develops feelings for one another. The only problem is, both are afraid of what the other will think when they find out who they are really writing to.
When I picked up this book, I was afraid that it would be predictable since the storyline is pretty straightforward. I was in for a great surprise when this book had me up all night, ready to see what happened next. I loved watching Tom and Mellie learn about themselves and grow. I also thought that the author did a wonderful job of mixing Christianity into the story so that the reader experienced several “ah-ha” moments throughout the book. It was well-written and enjoyable.
