Book Review: After All
I just finished reading "After All" by Deborah Raney. "After All" is the third book in the Hanover Falls trilogy. The book begins 18 months after the death of Susan Marlow's husband and four other firefighters who died trying to save the homeless shelter that she ran in the small town of Hanover Falls. In this novel, Susan learns a few things that change her life forever.
This is the first book I have read by Deborah Raney. After reading "After All", I now have the first two books on hold at my local library and cannot wait to dig in! This story was one that was very easy to follow even though I did not read the first two books in the series. To me, this is always a good thing. The characters are well developed and there is enough mystery to keep the pages turning at a steady rate. There were a few incidences where I kind of got lost in her timing, though. For example, one of the main characters, Pete, was reflecting on something that happened "the other day" but the dates at the beginning of the chapter indicated that the incident happened "yesterday". Another time, Susan was cleaning up after supper and then had Pete help her set the table for supper the same night. Other than that, this book was really spectacular. This is one of those Christian fiction books that you can recommend to either your devoutly religious friend or one who is unsure about her faith and you can be sure either friend would enjoy it!
Thanks for stopping by! Alicia
