Book Review: Treasures of Healthy Living
"Treasures of Healthy Living" by Annette Reeder and Dr Richard Couey is a textbook sized book full of information about healthy living in the physical sense and also in the spiritual sense. It is intended to be used as a Bible Study and has many scripture references in each chapter.
This is a great book for anyone who is looking to increase their overall health and who wants to participate in an in-depth Bible study. With that being said, I was completely overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information that the authors intended the reader to absorb each day. Using my timer, I read through one day's worth of reading, without looking up the scripture references and writing out the information that the average reader would write, and it took me ten minutes. Although it does not seem like much to the average person, the truth is that most people do not spend ten minutes (20 minutes when you add in the scripture readings and writing) on Bible study EVERY night.
Although I have my reservations about this book, it is not all bad. I love that the authors incorporated healthy living principles with Bible readings. I think that this book would be an invaluable resource if the authors spread it out for a longer period of time, perhaps making each daily chapter into a weekly chapter. There is so much information in this book that you do not want to miss!
